Support regional healthcare.
Fund EMET.
All Australians deserve the same access to quality emergency healthcare, regardless of where they live. Help us secure EMET funding to ensure the future of emergency healthcare throughout regional, rural and remote Australia.
About the campaign
Emergency Medicine Education and Training (EMET) is a joint initiative of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) and the Federal Government established in 2011.
EMET provides free, locally based, hands-on emergency medicine education and training to doctors, nurses, paramedics, allied health workers and other health professionals working in regional, rural and remote hospitals and health services.
There are more than 600 emergency departments and urgent care centres in Australia, but only a quarter are staffed by emergency medicine specialists. Essential upskilling for the rural health workforce is delivered through EMET's 59 hubs working with 540 health services across the nation.
EMET plays a pivotal role in giving these far-reaching communities access to emergency care services, for serious incidents and major traumas, that they otherwise would not have.
The Federal Government has only committed to funding the program until the end of 2025. ACEM is seeking $13 million per annum to fund EMET beyond 2025.
You can help us by:
1. Writing to your local MP, urging them to fight for EMET’s future.
2. Sharing the video, so more people can hear of EMET’s benefits.
3. Telling us your story, so we can highlight the success of EMET at a local level.
See what participants had to say about the benefits EMET brings to regional, rural and remote health professionals, their patients and their communities.
